THE CAMPAIGN

This campaign is focused on strengthening youth, Indigenous Peoples, and local communities based in Latin America and the Caribbean and fighting for climate justice and land rights. We will provide financial and technical support for campaigns led by youth from the most affected by the climate crisis supporting the advocacy for land rights and climate, particularly in the lead-up to COP30 in Belém, Brazil.

Atabey, the Taíno Indigenous deity representing the Earth, fertility, and the cycles of nature, symbolises the deep connection between land and life. Just as Atabey embodies the strength and resilience of nature, it inspires this campaign to uplift the voices of those who have long been the guardians of the land—Indigenous Peoples, women, and youth—ensuring they have the power to influence policies that affect their territories and future.

Roots of Justice: Strengthening Atabey Voices is working to promote change by advocating for land and territorial rights for Indigenous People and local communities, stronger protections against violence and gender inequality, and fair climate finance that prioritises youth grassroots movements. By supporting you-led grassroots organisations, groups and movements to tackle the challenges on the build-up to COP30, a historic opportunity for Latin America and the Caribbean.

Through this initiative, your organisation, collective or grassroots movement can receive a grant of up to 10,000 EUR to develop a public campaign that mobilises people towards a common goal. Your campaign should have a clear timeframe, a focused strategy, and an advocacy objective to influence decision-makers or public opinion.

In addition to funding, you will join a cohort of five youth-led organisations at the Global Land Forum in Bogotá, where you will kick off your campaign strategy, build connections, and strengthen your advocacy efforts.

If your organisation, collective or grassroots movement is working on land rights and climate justice, and you are ready to mobilise for real change, we invite you to apply!
